I checked out Tallon's roster on Cap Friendly. He does not have much to offer up in a fire sale.
Speaking of fire sales, there are a lot of teams dropping out of the playoff picture in the East unlike the West where the Coyotes appear to be the only team basically out of it. The next lowest team (Oilers) is quite capable of putting together 1 winning streak to put them right back in the thick of things.

I think Vancouver will be out of the race by January.

I was waiting for a Rusty post... Darth comes through in the clutch with the FIRST post and a pick of #85.

Oh yea, it wasn't IF the post would happen, but when. I hope the Hawks really give thought to retiring Rusty's number.

I wonder if Hartman will "like" this line up change?

Thought it was a foregone conclusion.

I liked the Brandon Bochenski for Kris Versteeg trade that Dale made.

If the Bowman's were smart they would look to MTL and Ottawa to trade.....both teams are desperate and desperate teams often make bad trades.....

Pacioretti, Danault for?
Hoffman and Smith for?

Absolutely, another good deal. Solid NHL contributor and has his name on two Chicago cups. Though may be on the downside now. Don't think he will ever see 40 points again.

Pacioretti, Danault for? A LOT
Hoffman and Smith for? TONS

These trades would cost multiple top prospects + a top pick.

It would cost something like Forsling, Debrincat + a #1

Hawks are NOT going to be involved in ANYTHING like this, because they just don't have the farm to get it done. Teams with multiple prospects are the only game in town.

Unless you think a package of Pokka + Eric Gustaffson and Mark Iacopelli is enough.

Good question. All I know is looking at the stats. He's doing fair it seems.

The guy that I am interested in, other than Highmore, is Carl Dahlstrom. He is a big D-man who has 15 points in 22 games and leads the Hogs in +/- ... considering I thought he had little offensive upside initially, to see him creating offense is interesting. Id like to see what people think of this former 2nd round Swedish pick.

I don't doubt the Habs and Sens would consider making deals, but it will be costly. Hawks have zero organizational depth at all. They have some pieces on the farm with "some potential", but not any that would bring in guys like Patch or Hoff. That would require young pieces off the current team (Gus, ADB).

Hawks are just not in good "trading position" this year, other than possibly a "change of scenery" type deal where the Hawks trade from their one position of depth (wing), thus I could only see Panik, Vinnie or Hartman being moved in anything other than depth fodder deals. And even those guys would require additional pieces if the Hawks were seriously looking for an upgrade. IOW, to get Danault ALONE, it would cost one of those players + a good prospect. Hartman + Fortin may get the Habs to look at it. Adding Patch in there takes the cost up beyond the Hawks ability to play the game. Unless as I said you are willing to add in Gus or ADB.

I suspect it will be a quiet year on the trade front for the Hawks.

Look at Carl Dahlstrom's trajectory...

2016-17 Rockford IceHogs AHL 70 6 5 11 16 -12 |
2017-18 Rockford IceHogs AHL 24 2 13 15 12 10

In 1/3 the games in his 2nd year in Rock he has already passed his point totals and has greatly improved his plus minus. In fact, in looking at his numbers, he has already set career highs in total points in just 24 games this year. Dude never even scored 15 in U16

Big, lefty, stay at home D-man from Sweden (LOVE my Swedish D-men), high IQ, excellent positioning, almost never takes penalties. Could he be Hammer V2.0?

If he projects well based on these stats and focuses on a defensive role, he'd be a good depth blueliner at the 5-6 spot. Playing under fellow Swede Ulf after former Swedish coach Colliton would be a good transition and support system as well.

Fox-What interests me is how his offensive game seems to have come around. The book on him in the draft was exceptional in his own zone, extremely good understanding of gaps and defensive zone play.

The negatives were limited offensive upside and not overly physical. Not sure if that means soft? Hammer wasn't overly physical, but played "tough". I don't give a poop if Dahlstrom isn't laying hits, what I want to know is can he take them? And will he still get the puck on our sticks without the physical play.

In just his 2nd year in America playing in Rockford it appears he has really taken a step up. I agree with you, sounds like he could slide into a bottom pairing role given his consistency and stability.

I have been wondering about this guy and why there is no mention of him. We have a lot invested in him (2nd round pick) and he is still young (22) for a defenceman.
